According to NSSGA, the stone, sand and gravel sector saw the lowest injury rate in history in 2015, with only two injuries per 200,000 hours worked. The milestone also marked the 15th consecutive year that the industry saw fewer injuries than the previous year, NSSGA adds.
“The aggregates industry is committed to developing and upholding a culture of safety at quarries across the nation,” says Mike Johnson, president and CEO of NSSGA. “We are proud to recognize these outstanding operations for working diligently to ensure that all of their staff makes it home at the end of their shift.”
The Gold Awards for Community Relations, Safety Excellence and Sterling Safety will be presented at NSSGA’s 2017 Annual Convention March 3-7 in Las Vegas. Register for the event here.
