Volvo Construction Equipment added the A45G articulated hauler to its G-Series hauler lineup.
According to the company, increased payload capacities, on-board weighing and dynamic drive contribute to the machine’s improved productivity and safety.
The A45G and A45G FS feature 45-ton capacities and are powered by Volvo D16, 16-liter, 469-hp Tier 4 engines. They also include the Volvo Dynamic Drive and Dynamic Volvo Engine Brake (VEB) systems. Dynamic Drive provides an improved gear shifting strategy that takes into consideration both the payload and gradient of the slope, Volvo says. In addition, the Dynamic VEB system, torque and shift points on the machines are now dynamically adjusted against the current load, inclination and rolling resistance.
On-board weighing comes standard with the A45G. According to Volvo, the system is fully automatic and requires no intervention from the operator.
Finally, the A45G articulated hauler includes a number of new safety features, including Hill Assist and a Dump Support System. Hill Assist holds the hauler in place on steep slopes without brakes, while the Dump Support System allows the operator to see the percentage side inclination of the truck and set parameters for safe dumping operations.
“The newest addition to the line – the A45G – holds an advantage in that it’s capable of 45-ton payloads, but is built upon a dimensionally smaller, lighter and more agile platform than other 45-ton trucks – making it more nimble, more off-road capable and more fuel efficient,” says Eric Fatyol, GPE products manager for Volvo Construction Equipment.
Volvo will have the A45G articulated hauler on display at ConExpo-Con/Agg 2017.
