Komatsu America Corp. appointed Dan Funcannon as vice president and general manager for its mining division. Funcannon replaces Erik Wilde, who accepted a position with another company. In this role, Funcannon will be responsible for the sales and support of Komatsu mining products in North America, as well as the company’s 200-ton and larger mining trucks globally.
Funcannon joined Komatsu in 1994 as a design engineer and has held various roles of increasing responsibility within the company. Most recently, he served as director of engineering, where he was responsible for all engineering activities for large mining trucks.
Funcannon also oversaw product research and development projects, including new AC drive haul trucks, autonomous technology adoption into large mining trucks, and various other innovations to improve the safety, quality, reliability and productivity of mining trucks.
Funcannon is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers’ Commercial Vehicle Engineering Congress Executive Council and the Bradley University Executive Advisory Committee for the dean of engineering.
