The bodies of James “Dee” Hemphill and Emmitt Shorter have both been recovered at Green Brothers Gravel Co. Inc.’s Harmony Mine & Mill in Crystal Springs, Miss., reports MS News Now.
Hemphill’s body was found June 9 inside the cab of an excavator, and Shorter’s body was found June 10 outside his truck mired in slurry.
The two workers were buried June 3 by gravel, water and sand when a retaining wall to a pond gave out, causing a cave-in.
The Mine Safety & Health Administration (MSHA) will begin investigating the possible causes of the incident now that recovery efforts are over, reports ABC News.
According to ABC News, online records show MSHA has cited this mine for 26 “significant and substantial” violations since 1993.
