BulkOne has emerged in the bulk explosives sector following the acquisition of Paige Engineering Limited (PEL), a North Bay, Ontario-based firm that engineers bulk explosives delivery systems.
BulkOne will design, manufacture and commission bulk explosives delivery vehicles and systems for surface mining, quarrying and underground operations. U.S. assembly operations will be based in Clear Lake and Des Moines, Iowa, with Canadian operations in Pembroke, Ontario.
PEL was founded in 2010 by John Paige, who will continue to serve BulkOne as general manager of BulkOne Canada.
According to BulkOne, a key component of the acquisition is BlastMetrics, a control and data integration platform designed for surface and underground bulk delivery vehicles, as well as explosives manufacturing facilities. The system enables improved accuracy, consistency and operational insight for blasting operations, BulkOne says.
“I am excited about this opportunity to build upon the engineering and expertise established at Paige Engineering Limited,” says Lenny Novak, vice president of BulkOne. “BulkOne is focused on delivering practical, high-performance solutions that help our customers improve efficiency, consistency and control in their blasting operations.”
In addition to advancing bulk emulsion truck design, BulkOne plans to expand its capabilities in explosives plant design and system integration to support customers in aggregates and mining.
