Duron Advanced 5W-30, a low-viscosity FA-4 heavy-duty diesel engine oil, received approval for use under the Volvo VDS-5 and Mack EOS-5 specifications.

Following a field-testing program across multiple engine platforms, Petro-Canada Lubricants says Duron Advanced 5W-30 is now approved for Volvo and Mack engines for model year 2021 and newer.

“These original equipment manufacturer approvals are a testament to our fantastic technology and partner teams, and the outstanding product they have developed,” says Melissa Mastrocola, business segment manager of transportation at Petro-Canada Lubricants. “Very few fluids have been recommended for these modern engines, demonstrating the quality of the engine oil. We are delighted to offer a solution that has been engineered to meet the demands of the latest Volvo and Mack engines and also provides outstanding performance benefits.”

Operators using Duron Advanced 5W-30 can take advantage of fuel economy improvements of up to 0.5 percent over a VDS-4.5/EOS-4.5 approved fluid, the company says. Formulated to exceed the requirements of American Petroleum Institute (API) FA-4, Petro-Canada Lubricants says Duron Advanced 5W-30 reduces friction and viscous drag in the engine, enabling reduced fuel consumption while offering wear protection.
