The National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) named Michele Stanley its new president and CEO.
Most recently, Stanley served as NSSGA interim CEO since October 2024, following the departure of then-president and CEO Michael Johnson. Prior to that, Stanley, who joined NSSGA in 2015, served in numerous roles including senior director of government affairs, vice president of government and regulatory affairs, and executive vice president and chief advocacy officer.
“As we embark on the next era of the association, Michele will steer NSSGA to achieve real results for members,” says Blue Water Industries’ Ted Baker II, 2025 NSSGA Chair. “NSSGA’s Officers & Executive Committee were unanimous in our support of Michele leading the association as our next CEO. With her wealth of advocacy experience, Capitol Hill connections and industry knowledge, I am confident that she is the perfect fit for the role.”
Stanley will now lead the association during what NSSGA says is a critical time for the industry, as Congress works on its tax reform package and the reauthorization of the surface transportation bill, which is set to expire in 2026.
“From navigating the complexities of government affairs to charting the course for the entire association, I’m energized by the opportunity to leverage my experience for a broader vision and build an even stronger industry future together,” Stanley says.
Stanley has almost 15 years of experience leading public policy initiatives. During her role as NSSGA’s executive vice president of government and regulatory affairs, she was named to The Hill’s top lobbyists list for four years and the National Institute of Lobbying & Ethics top lobbyists list for two years.
Prior to her roles at NSSGA, Stanley served on the government affairs team at the National Asphalt Pavement Association and worked on Capitol Hill for Rep. Jim Nussle (R-Iowa) and Rep. Peter King (R-New York).
Stanley is originally from Iowa and holds a degree in political science and management from Luther College, a certification in PAC management from George Washington University and a certification from the Institute for Organization Management from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
