The National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association’s (NSSGA) annual Legislative & Policy Forum is underway in Washington, where more than 340 attendees are expected to meet with lawmakers and share the industry’s story.
The four-day event in the nation’s capital includes a Hill Day on Thursday. Members of the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) and the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) will join NSSGA members to advocate for shared priorities.
According to NSSGA, Hill Day participants will advocate for policies such as ensuring fair access to materials research, fixing a broken permitting system, promoting workforce development and passing the next surface transportation reauthorization bill.
“NSSGA aims to advance policies that support the aggregates industry’s role in building America’s infrastructure,” says Michele Stanley, interim CEO of NSSGA. “Through our strategic advocacy and collaboration with other associations, NSSGA is creating the foundation to achieve legislative success and build a stronger infrastructure network.”
Additionally, the Legislative & Policy Forum features the NSSGA Awards of Excellence ceremonies and committee meetings. The event will also feature a Young Leaders networking event, a 5K run on the National Mall, the ROCKPAC Chairman’s dinner and a Meet Your Representatives reception.
In conjunction with the Legislative & Policy Forum, NSSGA announced that Martin Marietta executive vice president Roselyn Bar is being awarded the association’s ICON Award. Bar has been involved with NSSGA since its founding in 2000, serving on the legal and steering committees. NSSGA says Bar’s guidance has aided the association in making sound decisions on behalf of the industry on issues related to the environment and safety and health.
