Albert Manifold, who served CRH as CEO across 11 years, was appointed chair at BP.

Manifold is slated to join the company’s board on Sept. 1 as non-executive director and chair-elect. He will take over as chair on Oct. 1.

Manifold was CEO of CRH from January 2014 until December 2024.

“I am delighted that following a rigorous and comprehensive global search we have been able to appoint Albert as our new chair,” says Dame Amanda Blanc, senior independent director at BP. “His impressive track record of shareholder value creation at CRH demonstrates he is the ideal candidate to oversee BP’s next chapter.”

“Albert has a relentless focus on performance, which is well suited to BP’s needs now and into the future,” she adds. “He transformed and refocused CRH into a global leader by building on its rich heritage to deliver superior growth, cash generation and returns.”

Manifold originally joined CRH in 1998. He had more than 30 years of experience in the building materials industry – including 22 years at CRH.

Jim Mintern succeeded Manifold as CRH CEO at the start of 2025.
